For a number of years, the 'in' thing was to get a reporting system built for your website. The catch cry included phrases such as customisedpurpose built and code compatibility. We shouldn't be too cynical, as there are benefits in a bespoke system. However, we believe these are for very unique circumstances only (we do offer this service!) and the majority of the time, your best option is Google Analytics. 

Google has put a huge amount of time and resource into Google Analytics, and continues to do so. It just makes sense to use this free, powerful, user friendly resource. The tool offers access to insightful metrics on visitor behaviour, allows you to track the impact of marketing campaigns and much, much more.

There can be no argument that the importance of online is growing, and rapidly. As more and more direct purchases (and research for purchases) occur online it is important to ensure you understand customer behaviour, and any barriers (perceived or real).
