Documentary Filmmaking

Documentary films visually present a true story or topic, they can be long complex pieces or simply filming an event or recording an experience. Ocular has experience with documentary film making using a number of styles. We have equipment in-house to film most aspects of a documentary and are happy to talk to you about working on your documentary project.

Wellington City has over 400 private residential cable cars. Used to reach properties where building would otherwise be impractical these cars are a source of interest to visitors and locals alike. With the Wellington Cable Car Museum Ocular have produced a 15 minute documentary tracing the history and social impact of these cars. Wellington's private cable cars are probably a product of the tough topography and ocean climate in the region. The documentary is on display at the Wellington Cable Car Museum and was screened in the 2007 Doc NZ Festival.

Now showing in the Cable Car Museum Information Centre a 6 minute Ocular production showing the key attractions in Wellington City. Created for the Wellington Museums Trust using stock footage from The City I Love... Wellington.

Visitors travelling to the North Island on the Interislander will be able to enjoy a 20 minute highlights of Wellington video created by Ocular for Positively Wellington Tourism. Before riding up the Wellington Cable Car spend a few minutes watching Ocular's "Wellington's Top Spots" promotional spots.
