SARA QUILTER IS BRINGING NATURAL SKINCARE TO WELLINGTON'S RUGGED SOUTH COAST WITH TAILOR SKINCARE.

The often windswept streets of Lyall Bay may not seem the usual place to find a skincare company but Sara Quilter of Tailor Skincare has made the South Coast home. Tailor Skincare is a new player in the skin care market but has quickly established a reputation for creating effective natural skincare treatments.

Sara’s passion for skincare began while working for an organic fertilizer company.  Seeing how organic fertilisers improved soil health and plant nutrient content, prompted her to think about her skincare products she was applying and the impact of healthy nourishing food on our bodies and skin.  Sara ditched her current products, made up of nasty chemicals, and started making her own range, converting her father’s New Plymouth man cave into her beauty kitchen in 2011. In 2013 Sara and her handy Kenwood mixer (now in retirement) moved to Lyall Bay and Tailor Skincare began to boom!

Five years on and Tailor Skincare has a range products, combining in different ways to suit every skin and 100% made in NZ. Tailor Skincare is fast climbing the ranks of must-use skin care and is winning a loyal following from people passionate about their health.

Sara loves working in the bay and wouldn’t have it any other way.  Growing up in New Plymouth, having the beach at your fingertips was just awesome, and the South Coast is home away from home. For Sara walking along the beautiful coast and the lifestyle the Bay offers, is just amazing. Lyall Bay beach gets a fairly regular visit with the recent addition of Miniature Schnauzer, Loui, to the Quilter household. Her number one highlight of working in the Bay is seeing the Dolphins playing around and of course  access to the beach and stand up paddle boarding Christmas Parties. Sara has a well-balanced work/life mix and in her downtime she loves to do yoga, with a long term dream of becoming a yoga instructor.

There's no such thing as a typical day for Sara, running a growing business means wearing many hats. But her days usually start with heading to the gym, then either walking or driving to work, weather dependent!  Her work approach is to start with the hardest task first, then everything is downhill from there, as Brain Johnson will call it - eating the frog first!  The busy Kingsford Smith Street office is responsible for Marketing, communications, dispatch & inventory with product production based in Christchurch. The Bay offers everything her business needs right now and in the immediate future and can’t see the business moving.

Tailor Skincare recently launched a probiotic serum which is the first ever NZ made probiotic and anti-aging skin care product.  This product stimulates the skins natural peptide production and in 2016 won an innovation award from the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Chemists.  In 2017 Tailor Skincare will be celebrating their 5th year birthday and will include a brand refresh – so exciting times are ahead.
